Grupa dugoreških zaljubljenika u planine predvođenih ravnateljem Osnovne škole Đurom Tomičićem održava 23.07.1924. pouzdani (pripremni) sastanak za osnivanje podružnice Hrvarskog planinarskog društva u Dugoj Resi. Osnivačka skupština podružnice održana je 01.08.1924., a ime je dobilo po obližnjem brdu Vinici.
Za prvog predsjednika odabran je Đuro Tomičić, a tajnika Dragutin Riesner. Društvo na početku broji 32 člana, a većina članstva su dugoreški učitelji te rukovoditelji u Pamučnoj industriji.
Na 50. god. obljetnice HPD-a 7.i 8.09.1924. u dvorani Hrvatskog sokola u Zagrebu prisustvovao je i predstavnik podružnice iz Duga Rese, a već sljedeće godine na 51. godišnjici podružnicu su zastupala tri člana.
Prve godine društvo organizira izlete na Zeleni vir, Klek, Risnjak i Plješivicu.

Sljedećih godina društvo aktivno djeluje: broj članova se postupno povećava (1929. - 79 člana), organizira se niz većih i manjih izleta uglavnom po Hrvatskoj (Klek, Bijele stijene, Zeleni Vir, Sljeme, Risnjak, Okić, Kamenjak na Rabu, Plitvice, Skradski vrh, Biokovo...) i Sloveniji (Triglav - Julijske alpe...).
Društvo organizira mnogobrojne izlete u dugorešku okolicu, koji su popularni i među građanstvom, kao izleti na Vinicu, Martinšćak, Špilja Vrlovka, Novigrad, Bosiljevo, Barilović, Lešče...
1925. markira se staza na Vinicu i Barilović , a kasnije i staza do Novigrada za što je posebno zaslužan F. Mataković.
Od samog početka društvo organizira niz izložbi i predavanja, a treba izdvojiti dugoreške foto-amatere G. Kodleca i G. Korneka, koji organiziraju niz predavanja sa svojim snimkama. Predavanje održavaju i predavači iz središnjice H.P.D.-a G. Srahuljak i G. Griesbach sa predavanjem "Od Sušaka do Kotora" (16.10.1932.).
Izniman uspjeh polučila je projekcijom filma "U carstvu zlatoroga" (04. i 05.04.1933.) Organizira se niz zabava, a osobito su uspjele organizacije dočeka nove godine. (1932., 1933., 1934.).

Krajem 1933. osnovana je u društvu Ski sekcija sa 29 člana. Vode je Aleksandar Ban (predsjednik) i Mirko Bosiljevac (tajnik). Sekcija sljedećih godina djeluje vrlo aktivno i učestvuje u niz prvenstvenih utrka, a nekoliko i sama organizira što u alpskim disciplinama što u skijaškom trčanju. Organizira i niz zabava, a razmišlja i o gradnji planinarskog skloništa negdje u Gorskom Kotaru.
Kratko u društvu djeluje i glazbena sekcija, a zabilježeno je i speleološko istraživanje u špilji Barilović (1928 g.).

Društvo surađuje i sa ostalim planinarskim podružnicama (Karlovac, Jaska, Ogulin) i sa središnjicom u Zagrebu sa kojom odnosi i nisu bili uvijek idilični, pogotovo što na velikoj proslavi 10 g. društva (12.08.1934.) koja je proslavljena uz velik krijes na Vinici, nije došao nitko iz središnjice.
Društvo daje i donacije za izgradnju planinarskih objekata: Planinarske kuće na Plitvicama (6.000 din) i Planinarske kuće na Risnjaku (1.000 din.) te gradnju Hrvatskog doma (3.000 din).
Cijelo vrijeme društvo nema svoje prostorije već sastanke održavaju po "dugareškim gostionicama" (četvrtkom), a veća predavanja i godišnje skupštine najčešće u tvorničkoj kantini.
U drugoj polovici 30-ih godina rad društva nazaduje, broj članova pada na 10, a društvu prijeti likvidacija (kako tvrdi tadašnji predsjednik Gabor Mainz). Izletnička djelatnost svedena je na minimum.
Izviđači na Vinici, 1926.g.
Ipak pred sam II svjetski rat, rad društva je živnuo. Broj članova penje se na 37, organizira se niz izleta na Klek, Mrzlicu, Mirnu goru, Sljeme, Vinicu, Petrovu Goru, Dubovac, Ojstricu, Novigrad, Lešče (tjekom 1939.) i Vodenicu, Martinščak, Lipovec, Mirnu Goru, Okić, Novigrad, Kamanje, Zvečaj, Maribor (tijekom 1940.). Obnavlja se markacija na Vinicu.
Tijekom 1940. godine gradi se drvena piramida – vidikovac na vrhu Vinice, nažalost ta piramida uništena je tijekom II svj. rata.
Organizira se nekoliko zabava i predavanje sa dijapozitivima.
14.02.1941. društvo dolazi u posjed 130 čhv. pašnjaka na Rogancu (br. 1074 / 84).
Izbijanjem II. svjetskog rata prekida se uzlazna aktivnost društva. Broj članova pada na 20. Za svaki put ili izlet potrebno je ishodovati posebnu dozvolu vlasti N.D.H.
Nekoliko članova sudjeluje na proslavi Prvog dana planinara N.D.H. održanog 05.10.1941. na Sljemenu, i proslavi dana N.D.H. 09.04.1942. u Dugoj Resi.
Interes za planinarstvo opada, jer je sva mladež uključena u ustaški pokret, a nemože se "ni na najbliža brda učiniti izlet". Svi članovi društva dužni su od vlasti ishoditi potvrdu o nacionalnoj ispravnosti.
Tijekom 1944. prestaje svaka aktivnost društva i ono se gasi.
